Cortex's policy analysis work spans trade, economics, community development, and policy arenas, and we have particular expertise in the area of forest tenure.

Example projects include:

• provincial-level analyses, such as tenure reform and barriers to certification
   
• landscape/territorial and regional analyses, such as an economic analysis of forest development options for the Hul’qumi’num Treaty Group
   
• policy-specific analyses, such as the development of a monitoring and evaluation framework for community forests, or the analyses of tenure obligations under various pieces of legislation.
   

Our policy work often links directly to our timber supply and forest industry analysis work. For example, we have identified the specific and cumulative impacts of resource policies on timber supply; the impacts of alternative forest management options on employment, income, and revenue to the Crown and industry; and the effects on timber supply of alternative levels of harvest on land subject to treaty negotiations.
