Extension is a collaborative process that facilitates the application of useful and practical information. It focuses on the development of people by providing research-based information, new knowledge, analytical frameworks, decision aids, and other tools.

Our extension professionals work with clients to clarify their desired areas of improvement, determine what they need to make these improvements, and how best to deliver the required information to help clients realize their goals. This process often involves identifying barriers and developing strategies to overcome these and create meaningful change.

Most of our extension work has been related to the conservation and management of natural resources. Improving resource values or management strategies often requires changing the way people act, by increasing their knowledge, improving their decision-making, developing their skills, or changing their perspectives about appropriate practices.
