A fundamental goal of any environmental assessment process is to determine if planned development activities in an area pose threats to ecosystems or ecosystem components. Cortex works with clients to help them determine the effects of different development activities on ecosystem functions, how significant those effects may become over time, and how they could be mitigated. Cortex uses simulation, risk assessment and decision analysis approaches to analyze ecological risks of land-use options and/or project development plans.
