The Chief Forester's Forest Science Advisory Committee (CF-FSAC) was the successor to the Forest Science Board. The mandate of the CF-FSAC was "to provide advice to the Chief Forester regarding the design and implementation of a credible, efficient, and effective forest land base research and extension program". Membership of the CF-FSAC was comprised of industry, aboriginal, provincial and federal government, and forest science provider representatives.
Cortex provided secretariat and communication services, which included coordinating meetings, maintaining a website, developing and updating organizational materials such as business plans and annuals reports. In addition, Cortex produced a database containing summaries of all research funded through the FIA-FSP. A report listing all FIA-FSP research projects could be auto-generated annually from this database as projects were added and updated (most recent version here).
A primary objective of this project was to assist with transferring management of the program to the BC Ministry of Forests and Range. Transfer support included collation and documentation of materials and communicating Cortex knowledge and experience accumulated by Cortex staff, who had been involved with the FIA-Forest Science Program (FIA-FSP) since its inception.
