Recognizing the value of a collaborative approach to dealing with the challenges and opportunities that climate change presents to the BC forest sector, senior executives in the BC government and forest industry formed the Forest Sector Climate Action Steering Committee (FSCASC) in January 2008 to guide government and industry decision-makers in the forest sector on appropriate policy and activities related to climate change. The FSCASC reports to the Roundtable on Forestry and the Cabinet Committee on Climate Action.
 

 

Services: A Cortex facilitator worked with the FSCASC and its subcommittees in 2008 to develop a strategic framework to guide government and industry activities related to climate change in the forest sector.

Outcomes: The framework for climate action included a vision for the forest sector in carbon-constrained future, strategic directions to achieve specific aspects of the vision, and preliminary 12-month measurable accomplishments for each of these strategic directions. The FSCASC subsequently established sector-specific teams to work with this material in developing government and industry action plans.
